    How we all got ‘executed’

They’ve all been at it, on the track, on the field, in the pool. ‘Executing’ has been the buzzword among athletes competing at London 2012. Mr Bolt himself was on about it the other day. Even our very own Jessica Ennis was at it two days ago ‘I came out here and executed’.

So just how did our rather fine athletes get so ‘executional’? My hunch for how all this business-speak seeped into athletics is that it’s simply a by-product of just how jolly hard it is to win a medal these days. Basically the level of professionalism & resource required to achieve success, means a more business like approach has been adopted, which in turn affects how the athletes speak.

So now we’ve cracked that little mystery, we’re just left with working out how us MCs may choose to adopt the ‘executing’ shtick in our daily lives.  Here are three summary MC “executions” that can only be days away.

    • We got to Jack Wills, saw the latest Breton shirt range and immediately executed
    • We popped into Leon, we grabbed the fish finger wrap and we executed
    • Priority Boarding was only £29, so we executed at the click of the mouse

Even more tedious will be the sports jocks using words from the games at Monday's meetings. No doubt some sales drone will be call in to be 'medalled'.
